Platform design and the IPA’s Roadmap to 2030, Built Environment Matters podcast with Trudi Sully from The Construction Innovation Hub
We decided to tackle the garden a couple of weeks ago.
I’m a big fan of doing projects in 15 or even 5 minute increments. As long as I can see a little bit of progress everyday, I feel great.
A lot of our big projects (like cutting holes in walls or electrical) are mostly done by Chris, but there are still plenty of things that need to be done that aren’t huge perfectionist jobs, like painting, installing hardware, or keeping the work area organized, that I can get done a little at a time and keep myself feeling like we’re moving in the right direction.. 4) Learn to get rid of stuff..I cannot believe that amount of stuff we own.I feel like the amount of junk that I’ve accumulated should be what someone twice my age would have in their house.
When we were emptying out the room for this project, I got rid of about 70% of what was in the room.I either put things in the trash or donated them.
Then when I moved the stuff back into the cupboards and onto the shelves that used to be there, I got rid of even more.
Now that I’ve had to move stuff back into our bedroom again because we’ve decided to get all intense about this project, the amount of stuff is really very manageable. This very interesting idea.
And it was not what we had previously decided on when we were first coming up with the concept for the book, at all.. Now, this may not seem like a big deal to you, but as a blogger who basically shares step-by-step photos for almost everything, always, this was kind of huge..The sales team at the publisher had suggested that maybe we would want to make the book black and white.
And make it smaller. And make it cheaper.. Well, OK, I liked the idea of making it cheaper, because the more people that can get their hands on it, the better, of course.
